Q: If I make a pledge, when will the money come out of my account?
A: No money is actually collected until the Kickstarter campaign is complete (April 2nd). If the project fails to reach it's goal of $9000, no pledges will be collected. If the project is successfully funded, you will be notified, in April, as a reminder that your pledge is about to be collected.
Q: When will Ditty App be ready?
A: Once the project is fully funded on Kickstarter, the collected funds will be paid to the company that has been hired to bring the app to life. A rough estimate puts the time-to-delivery anywhere from 4-8 weeks after funding. This is to allow time for the app to be built, tested, and approved for distribution on Google Play store and the Apple App Store.
Q: Which company will be building the app?
A: The app is being built by Tiny Screen Labs. They are an app development and hosting company based out of the Chicago, IL, area.
Q: How much will Ditty App cost when it is complete?
A: Ditty App will be FREE for download once it launches! The core functionality, as described in the promo video will be available at no cost to the user. Future development may lead to new features that can be unlocked for a small price. This will help to offset the ongoing cost of maintaining the database required to make the app work.
Q: What additional features do you hope to include for future updates?
A: I would love to find ways to make it more exciting and rewarding to use the app. If we can build a sufficient user base, our combined menu item ratings will begin to help restaurants track their customer's opinions and easily see where they need to improve. Ultimately, I would like to workout a system where restaurants offer discounts on menu items in exchange for a rating left by you. We will build a QR code system into the app that allows restaurants to confirm that you have left a review and then reward you with a discount when you pay your check.
Q: How exactly will the app work?
A: The final details of how the app will function are still being worked out. Here's a glimpse of what we've got so far:
You walk into a restaurant and are seated, with your menu. You pull out your phone and find a notification (optional) stating: "Welcome to [insert restaurant name here]! Would you like to look at the menu?" Clicking on the notification will bring up the restaurant menu on your smartphone screen.
You browse through the menu, seeing your own ratings for food you have eaten before, along with the average rating for each item on the menu, based on other users' inputs. With this extra info in hand, you make your selection and order.
After your meal is complete, while you wait for your server to arrive with the check, you pull out your phone, click on the item that you ate, and give it a 0-5 star rating, based upon your experience. Now is your chance to leave a helpful comment, if you choose (didn't like the sauce, the rice was undercooked, etc).
Once you are complete, you hit "Submit" and your review is saved to your phone and sent to the Ditty App database where it is combined with the reviews of other users. A QR code pops up on your screen along with a confirmation message.
Your waiter arrives to collect the check and scans the QR code of each participating customer, which applies a small discount to the meal, or unlocks some other reward.
